To say that I was nervous beforehand would be an understatement. I have never volunteered for anything of this nature, and this is a group that I have a lot of admiration and respect for. I knew that I had to make a good impression and I was fully prepared for a day of hauling and picking up poop.
When I pulled up to the charming Kinnison barn in Salado, TX, two positively gorgeous quilts, artfully draped over the fence, open barn brimming with treasures and treats all generously donated; the first thing that caught my eye?
Leo of course!
When asked if I could hang out with him for a bit, I lept at the chance. Abandoning any delusions of coolness, I crouched down next to him and immediately started talking puppy talk (it's like baby talk, but with fur). I pet his soft, short coat. Pleasantly surprised when he sat on my lap, he's considerably lighter than my two 'puppies' at home. What a little snuggle bug! We had a great time, greeting shoppers, playing ball and taking a few short, brisk walks.
I loved how curious he was about Mr Charlie Ringtail
Poor Charlie!
What a good sport, hanging out with a bunch of dogs. Before you feel too badly for him, he also had some truly lovely ladies from the APAC to give him pats & snuggles
Crystal? Well just look at her smile
This girl was born to be the life of the party.
Bear & Clooney arrived with their fantastic foster family. Clooney is such a little dynamo. I had the pleasure of walking with him for a bit.
You should have seen how proud this little man was after the APAC dog wash, fresh & clean. A true American dog, a little mix of everything, it seemed.
Bear was just so relaxed. He has such a sweet, calm demeanor, he is a pleasure to be around. As you can see, everyone wants to be around him!
