This is an essay by very talented young writer, Channing Marsh. Each time I read it, I get a little choked up. Then I look at Mr. Moose's sweet face & I get a little more choked up.
EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON
Channing Marsh, 11 years old.
It was a Saturday afternoon in July and we didn't have any ball games, which is really odd for our family. After a nice, relaxing lunch, we decided to swing by Petsmart and pick up a few things for our pets.
When I walked through the door, I saw a big, brindle colored dog. His eyes were deep brown, and filled with sorrow. I went over to pet him, and he licked my hand. I knew my mom would make a donation to their adoption agency, but this time, I wanted to ask her for something even more....I wanted to adopt this big, sad, dog, who I later learned was named "Moose". I just felt an immediate connection to him, and knew in my heart he was meant to be a part of our family.
I went to ask my mom, and I was prepared for her "No". Boy, was I in shock when she said "YES"! She told me she had felt that same connection. I went up to Moose's foster mom and said, "I'd like to adopt Moose". After we finished all the paperwork, Moose, my mom, and his foster mom went through the store, getting everything he would need to come live with us. I could already see a difference in his eyes!
That day, Moose found his Forever Family, and I found my Forever Best Friend. You see......Everything Happens For A Reason.
